Rual Askew was born in Marietta, Oklahoma, October 1, 1920. He spent most of his boyhood years in San Antonio, Texas until attending the University of Texas in Austin. His interest in the arts developed early with poems, philosophy, and piano recitals throughout school. The Dallas Morning News ( DMN ) is a daily newspaper launched by George Bannerman Dealey in Dallas, Texas in 1885. G. B. Dealey’s son and grandson have succeeded him in presidency of the paper’s publisher, the A. H. Belo Corporation.
